The Celtic Witch and the Sea by Molly Mulligan

The Celtic Witch and The Sea

Author: Molly Milligan

5 out of 5 stars

This book has two short stories. The first is connected to the series, The Celtic Witch Mysteries, which follows Bronwen, who is a hedge witch. In this story, Bronwen has to help a recently deceased man named Edgar Wrigley, whose soul is stuck and unable to move on to the afterlife.

The second story is connected to the series, The Everyday Witche of Wildham-on-Sea, which follows Jackie Hardy, who is a journalist and uses domestic magic. In short story, she investigates the death of a young artist named Corey, who drowned in what is at first believed to be a suicide. But Jackie’s friend Gloria, who knew Corey well, believes she was murdered.

I really liked both of these stories and was easily drawn into them. They both had enjoyable characters with a variety of personalities. Bronwen is a knowledgeable and experienced hedge witch. Her interactions with her Aunt Dilys and Harkin, her cat, were funny. Jackie is a sensible and logical thinker due to her work as a journalist, and when doing magic she’s very off the cuff.

There was some good action. Bronwen and Jackie used magic multiple times, and they both had to fight the bad guy at the end of their stories.

Overall, this book definitely deserves 5 out of 5 stars. This is a great book to get if you’re looking for a couple new series that include magic and witches.
