The Cottage: A True Haunted House Story
Author: Jess Breitling
4 out of 5 stars
Jess Breitling and her husband, Gabe, have always wanted to live in a specific community in the mountains of Southern California. They’re thrilled when they get the chance to rent a small cottage, but they’re dream turns into a nightmare when they and their daughter begin hearing voices and their daughter sees floating eyes in her bedroom. Then Jess begins to feel a threatening presence. How will they deal with this paranormal nightmare?
I really enjoyed this short story. It was very well written, and the author’s feelings came through clearly. There was a spooky feeling throughout the story, both from the events and helped by the authors great descriptions which helped me imagine the events happening. And at the end, there’s a good hint at the sequel when they live in another haunted house.
Overall, there was nothing wrong with this story, but there was nothing about it that helped it stand out from similar books, so I decided to rate it 4 out of 5 stars. If you like true ghost stories then you’ll enjoy this book.
