3 out of 5 stars

Charlotte Vale has had imprecise and confusing visions her entire life. Then one causes her to make a huge mistake during an extremely important meeting, and she loses her job. Her boyfriend also breaks up with her that night. Following her grandmother’s advice to trust her gift and intuition, Charlotte soon visits the small town of Woodson, New York. She falls in love with, and purchases, a rundown home. Following a life long desire to run hoer own business, she decided to turn it into a bed and breakfast. Unfortunately, a city councilman, Ron, immediately dislikes her and wants to shut her new business down. When Ron is murdered on Charlotte’s property, suspicion quickly falls on her. Determined to clear her name, Charlotte begins her own investigation. Will her visions be a help or a hindrance?

I’ll start with the negatives. First, there were some timeline issues where things gone done much faster than they should have. The best example is the house Charlotte buys. Multiple people say it needs a lot of work, even some structural damage, but it somehow gets completely fixed up in less than two weeks. Second, Charlotte is able to look up who a car is registered to, which isn’t information the average person is able to access. And third, there was a lot of odd phrasing that just didn’t feel like the natural way someone would speak or think.

For the positives, the story had good descriptions and a fast pace. And in general, I liked the plot. The mystery was well written and so was the twist ending. The reveal of the killer was particularly well done.

So overall, this book wasn’t really good or bad, which is why I rated it 3 out of 5 stars. So while I wouldn’t recommend it, at 177 pages on Kindle, it’s not a very long read if the plot interests you.
