Tales of Ever After (Fellowship of Fantasy #4)
Multiple Authors
4.5 out of 5 stars
This fantasy anthology contains 16 short stories, They range from serious to outright funny. Most were happy endings, but a few were more hopeful endings that were just the beginning for the characters. Some rewrote or were based on familiar fairy tales, like Cinderella, while others were brand new.
A common theme in these stories is that the main character has to either go through a change or go on some sort of journey or quest. Spoiled princesses are humbled when they are forced into difficult situations. Characters go on a quest to prove themselves. Sometimes it’s an adventure to find what they’re looking for, like the prince looking for an energetic and hardworking match, but instead finds sleeping beauty and a princess who can’t sleep because of her lumpy mattress and is always tired.
I really enjoyed all of these stories, and they were all well written. My favorite was “The Third Princess”. It’s about a queen who spoils her youngest daughter and doesn’t care about her older daughters because they don’t act like she thinks princesses should act. The queen sets them up to fail while trying to arrange a marriage for her youngest, however her plan goes completely awry. What happens and the queen’s reactions are hilarious.
The only issue is that some stories had editing mistakes. There weren’t a lot, but they were obvious. In one story, a character’s name is written as Daniel instead of David. Another story has this mistake: “the Duke’s his eldest son”.
Due to the editing mistakes, I’m rating this anthology 4.5 out of 5 stars. You should definitely check it out if your looking for fun stories with a little bit of action and happy endings
