Abandoned: A Ghost Story

5 out of 5 stars

After being kicked out by her boyfriend and being left homeless, Lisa grabs onto the chance to move into an abandoned apartment. But starting the very first night, Lisa hears footsteps, banging doors, and has odd and terrifying dreams. At first, she thinks the footsteps and banging doors are other people living in the abandoned apartment building. Until the experiences take a more menacing and distinctly paranormal turn. Without the money to leave, Lisa’s stuck. What will she do?

I loved this short story. It was very well written and a chilling page turner. Lisa’s emotions came through very clearly, and there was a feeling of dread throughout the story. It has an invigorating start as Lisa is running up the subway stairs to catch the ferry. However, you don’t know that immediately, so it catches the reader’s attention as you’re not sure what’s going on.

This was a gripping story, and I continued to think about the ending for a while. There was nothing bad about this book, so it has fully earned 5 out of 5 stars. If you like ghost stories that are on the scarier side, then you should definitely read this one.
